Nationally UNISON ambulance members reject changes to unsocial hours payments
In a consultative ballot that closed today UNISON ambulance members in England have rejected proposals to change unsocial hours payments for staff. Under the employer’s proposals’ ambulance staff would stand to lose their unsocial hours uplift for shifts they miss due to sickness absence. In the consultative ballot, 94% of ambulance members rejected the proposal.
UNISON will be working with other ambulance trade unions to agree a joint response to our consultative ballots. UNISON will be keen to avoid a situation where trusts impose changes to unsocial hours payments which could result in industrial and legal challenges. We will now be talking to ambulance employers about the risks of imposing these proposals and will keep you updated on any developments through the usual communication channels.
