Air Conditioning in vehicles

UNISON has raised issues with the Trust on behalf of members regarding the issue of air conditioning in vehicles during the prolonged heatwave.

The Trust response is below;

‘Fleet provision to attend to the air-con is available and staff will be supported by the Operations management team to have the air-con looked at and re-gassed where necessary. The specific management is a local decision, so this can be managed appropriately within the current operational situation.’

UNISON suggests the following procedure is followed;

• If the vehicle has non functioning air conditioning please initially contact the CS (or TL on PTS) and request to take the vehicle to be assessed at Fleet/workshops. This request should not be reasonably refused

• If another vehicle with functioning Air-con becomes available then request to swap onto that vehicle.

• Datix any issues or incidents

UNISON are assured bottled water should be distributed on stations, please contact UNISON if this is not available.
