Paramedic Pay Progression over next 3 years

UNISON had a couple of questions about the current paramedics in band 6 on pay point 24 (and some people in band 5 pay point 18). We were waiting for confirmation of what would happen to them at the end of the proposal period. Specifically when they would access the top of the band. I can confirm that they will move to the top of the band on 1 April 2021 (i.e. they won’t have to wait for their incremental date).

Here’s how it’s worked out:

Currently on Pay point 24

Now -                   £29,626

1 April 2018 –      £31,121

1 April 2019 –      £32,525

1 April 2020 –      £33,779

Total increase by 31 March 2021 –   £4153

1 April 2021 –      £37,890

Total increase by 1 April 2021 -         £8264

Basically this equates to an increase from year 3 to year 4 of £4111. Nearly the same as the preceding 3 years of rises.

For the other points, roughly 84% of members currently employed within the NHS will reach the top of their band by the end of the three year pay deal.
