National Pay ‘Deal’
After much coverage in the press and various amounts of misinformation and rumours being spread, I feel it is necessary to clarify a very important point for members.
As always UNISON YAS Branch will do everything it can to give members all the relevant information and potential outcomes to make an informed decision as opposed to soundbites, acting with integrity rather that seeing such an important issue as a recruitment opportunity.
UNISON national has at no point agreed the offered pay deal. What they are saying is that they believe after negotiations with the Government that this is the best that can be received through those negotiations.
As a member led union UNISON now feels that they have got as far as they can with these talks so have and will put the deal to members for them to decide how to move forward. This means every UNISON member will have the right to decide on whether to accept or reject the proposal.
So to reiterate what has been said above, no deal has been done it is a proposal from the Government and UNISON will give all members the right to vote on the issue. We are in a consultation process and your feedback is vital. UNISON has arranged a members meeting on Thursday 29th March at Buckles Inn on the A64 starting at 1930hrs to discuss this specific issue.
