HULL PTS – Thames private providers
UNISON was informed today by its members at Thames Ambulance Service, the private company that recently too over the Hull PTS contract from YAS, that they would not be paying our members their full wage.
This is the first wage that our members would have received from their new employer since being transferred from YAS.
This is a shocking and very worrying situation, and supports our previous concerns around private companies taking over NHS contracts.
UNISON immediately contacted our regional officer who got in touch with the Chief Executive of the CCG to inform them of the situation, we were also able to get the press
involved and the local MP, as well as UNISONs legal teams being mobilised, sadly Thames AS were not available to discuss this problem.
Within a few hours of UNISON contacting all interested parties pressure was put on Thames and they have since contacted the relevant CCG to say that they will now pay
the full wages to our members, which are due tomorrow.
UNISON will keep the pressure on and ensure that despite our members being TUPE'd over to a private company, we will do everything possible to support them and be
there when they need us.
