Coding of Calls within ARP
Members’ have raised with UNISON that some coding under the most recent ARP system does not appear to relate to the severity of actual incidences. This has been particularly reported with purple calls. Members are concerned that the category seems to have been expanded in relation to haemorrhage calls, which staff have said has resulted in an increase in relatively minor events of epistaxis and lacerations being coded Purple.
UNISON has raised this with the Trust and been asked to highlight that as a system under trial the ARP system is constantly being reviewed and inappropriate coding looked at. Reporting any inappropriate coding is very much worth doing and will be taken seriously in the overall review of ARP. To report any incidents via the specially created
