Angela Skelton retirement

TIME TO SAY ‘GOODBYE’

After a great deal of thought over the past 2 years, ( I don’t like to make snap decisions!), I have decided it is the right time for me to retire from the Trust.

My last day at work will be the 3rd February, 2017, although I have agreed to continue to support the Branch throughout February from home.

When I retire, I will have worked 38 years, 3 months in the Ambulance service and been part of the trade union movement for over 30 years.

I started at Honley as a naïve 23-year-old, not sure what’s happened during the years to get where I am now! May as well say it as I know some of my colleagues will given the chance!!!

Apart from 5 years working on PTS at Huddersfield, all my career has been at Honley station, as you can see I’m not keen on change really.

There’s been good times and bad times over the years, I’ve met and worked with some exceptional people, many of whom I class has my friends.

I have always worn my heart on my sleeve, so to speak, always tried to speak up for what I felt was morally correct, ranted at times and tried to support members in the best way I can.

I know I am leaving you all in the capable hands of my colleagues in the branch and I’m sure I will still put my opinions forward from time to time.

It is my intention to spend the 2nd February in the union office at Springhill, so please call in and join me for nibbles and cakes.

On the 3rd February, I will be where it all started in 1978 at Honley Station, again there will be nibbles and cakes.

I wanted this opportunity to say ‘goodbye’ as I’m sure I will not get to see everyone.

All best wishes to you and your families for the future.

Skelly.
