UNISON Y.A.S UPDATE
E.O.C
UNISON members within the EOC department are currently under consultation regarding proposed rota changes, UNISON encourages member to email This email address is being protected from spambots. Support Services
UNISON members within support services are raising concerns about the current Trust incentive payments, previously when incentives have been paid many support service members also received a payment when working above their contracted hours.
UNISON has raised concerns that the incentive scheme is not available to all members. We are asking the Trust to acknowledge that without them the service would grind to a halt, and as a result pay incentives to all staff.
P.T.S
The legal challenge UNISON submitted regarding the withdrawal of the meal break subsistence on PTS is still ongoing, the latest news from the solicitors being:
‘We refer to your letter of 16 October 2014 and confirm that we are authorised to accept service of proceedings. We are taking our client’s instruction in relation to the substantive elements of your letter and will respond in due course. Basically this means both sides have accepted the principle of the case and are awaiting further information before a hearing date is set.’
UNISON will continue to keep you up-dated on the situation.
A&E Meal Breaks
UNISON members have made it clear that the current interim meal-break policy is not working, this has become even more apparent after our meal break survey, see attached results. UNISON will use the survey results in order to negotiate a fairer and simpler meal break policy.

A&E Operational Issues
UNISON YAS Committee has arranged two full day meetings with the Trust in November to negotiate a package which can then be to put to members.
The package will include the following:
1, Rota reviews on each station where members feel the rotas are unworkable, this will include the removal of 12hr shifts at the weekend in 10hr rotas.
2, The reduction of end of shift overtime which is becoming more and more unacceptable
3, Workforce, agree a workforce that ensures fair pay and career progression
Basically, UNISON A&E members want a meal-break at the middle of the shift, to work rotas that don’t leave them feeling tired and stressed, the end of shift overtime reduced to an acceptable level and to be part of a work force that feels valued and paid fairly
