Industrial action update

A&E INDUSTRIAL ACTION UP-DATE

Dear Member,

Even though UNISON members have overwhelmingly voted in favour of industrial action the Trust has still decided to carry on pushing through changes to working practices which have not been agreed with UNISON.

The back door introduction of the “front end model”, which asks UNISON clinicians to undertake band 6 work for band 5 pay.

Stating in the last operational update that members may face action if they come in on overtime and don’t agree to do whatever the Trust asks rather than the verbal agreement they had made when accepting the overtime. UNISON believes it is unfair for members to be asked to go on an RRV, pair up or move station when this wasn’t the agreed arrangement.

UNISON informed the Trust yesterday that the only way the issues could be resolved was by talking, all they have to do to ensure these discussions take place, is to follow the clear mandate from members and revert back to the agreed policies.

UNISON believes the Trust did not think we would ballot our members over the changes, WRONG! Thenthey believed members would not vote in favour of action, WRONG! They now probably believe members will not take action, WRONG!

UNISON will inform members shortly of the dates and type of action we WILL be taking.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

Not adhering to the agreed workforce plan
Breaking agreements recently agreed in Operational Redesign
Private ambulances on the streets of Yorkshire
Lack of acknowledgment that the Operational Redesign changes did not work
Still no urgent tier weeks after it was agreed that its removal was a mistake and the acknowledgment that it could cost us contracts due to high costs
Late meal breaks, members going excessive lengths of time before getting a break which is adversely affecting their health
Excessive end of shift overtime
Band 4 work for band 3 pay
Paramedic review hitting a brick wall
Technicians feeling under threat
Members struggling to get leave
Constant pressure on turnarounds
Ever increasing workloads and responsibility
And many more

BASICALLY FEELING UNDER VALUED AND UNDER PAID FOR THE JOBS WE DO
