Rolling relief hours

Rolling relief hours

UNISON has received a number of queries from members regarding time owed on rolling relief due to the rota changes. UNISON is currently meeting the Trust to resolve these issues and ensure that the policy agreed is put into practice.

2.11 It is the joint responsibility of the Trust and the individual member of staff to ensure that contractual hours are worked. There must be a record kept by the Capacity Planning and Scheduled Department and the individual evidencing these discussions, at which stage an individual will only be required to work back a maximum of one shift consistent with their shift pattern, regardless of the number of hours owed with no detriment or loss of earnings to the member of staff.

2.12 All staff’s working hours will be balanced back over two cycles of the station rota for full time staff (pro rata equivalent for part t time staff). Any hours worked under will be worked back on a mutually agreed shift between the individual and Capacity Planning and Scheduling Department over the next reference period. If agreement can’t be reached, for every shift owed, three shifts on different days.’

We would advise members to ask scheduling for a breakdown of time owed, to state that the agreed policy above should be adhered to and postpone agreement regarding outstanding hours until the negotiations with the Trust are finished.

We will keep members updated.
